I got published!!!

So there is a brand new magazine out in Ventura called The Resource Magazine. It has a great bundle of information on the happenings in Ventura, restaurant reviews and so much more!
I did a photo shoot at the end of 2006 for Weaver Wines. Weaver Wines is a fun place for everyone to enjoy, whether you are learning about wine making, tasting a new wine, picking out a gift or finding something to take home. Weaver Wines staff is available for private parties at their place or yours anytime. They can provide you with custom wine tasting, table/bar pouring service, customized glassware and so much more.
My photographs that made it in the magazine are the wonderful staff at Weaver Wines and a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, both available at Weaver Wines.
So next time you are in Ventura, go check them out! They are located downtown Ventura at 14 S. California Street.

Shooting for fun!

So my friend, Loren, called me up and wanted to go shooting. He is in a photo class in town and wanted to learn more about his camera and getting down the different uses of the shutter speed, ISO and the aperture. We went out to the beach and just started shooting fun and random things. He has a lot of this down, so it was more like fine tuning what he already knew.
We worked on shooting shallow depth of field controlled by your aperture.

Using lighting direction creates great light on different objects including textured objects.

And of course, taking beautiful shots of an incredible sunset. I just can't get enough of any sunset, and two top it off, right on the beach. I am sooooo blessed to live in Santa Barbara!!

A new Mac magazine! Toooo Coooool!

Okay so since I am a Mac addict I wanted to share this with you guys. For those of you who don't already know, a new Mac magazine recently unveiled. It is called Mac Life. It is filled with so many goodies! Cool gadgets, software, shortcuts and so much more. They have so much info on all different Mac stuff! They talk about Aperture, the new iphone and imovie. You can totally pimp out your Mac, customize it and make it ROCK! Not like it already doesn't, but you know. :-)
They also have an awesome website with tons of great info to, Mac Life
They had this article in the magazine, I thought that this was funny, check it out!
They asked around "What would you do if someone took away your Mac...?
The Runners Up:
"First I's look around from y clothes, which would be inexplicably missing, even though everybody around me was fully dressed. Then I'd frantically try to swing back to the surface before I ran out of air. I would run as fast as I could, even though I did't seem to be going anywhere. At long last, I'd wake up from the horrible nightmare, sit down at my Mac, get a cup of coffee, and get to work."
"Take up knitting"
"I would rejoice that I could have my husband back for face-to-face talks and walks in the park...and then after a week of that, I would let him buy another Mac so I get some peace."
"That's like asking, 'What would you do if someone took away your children?'"

And the winner is...
"Kick them square in the nanos."

Hahaha, yes we love our Mac's :-)

What is success?

So now that it is March and all the hype for New Year’s Resolutions is over, I have a different view on resolutions very similar to my friend Sarah Anne Barlow. She mentioned on her blog not too long ago about having baby step resolutions and goals. I absolutely love that idea! It goes right along with this awesome book that I am reading, Your Roadmap For Success by John Maxwell, recommended highly by David Jay. And I highly recommend it to anyone that hasn’t read it! Everyone has thier view of what success is. Like it is some final destination that you get to. But John Maxwell’s book has a different perspective on success. Success is a journey. John’s definition of success is….knowing your purpose in life, growing to reach your maximum potential, and sowing seeds that benefit others. Wow! When I read that, it changed my whole view on what success really was. He says, “Success in life has nothing to do with what you gain in life or accomplish for yourself. It’s what you do for others.” Reading this book has been a HUGE encouragement and motivation for me. It talks about attitude, goals and so much more!
Speaking of goals, he continues to say, “On the success journey, the goals you set become your route. The main thing is to be constantly moving toward your destination. And setting goals is the best way to make sure that continues to happen.
So what are your goals? Write them down on paper, read them over and over and act on them. Take one more step toward your goals. Take action! One of my goals this year is to read more books! So you might hear a lot more about the books I am reading. I wish I could quote the whole book to you, it is that good! I will leave you with one more quote from his book. “Success is waking up in the morning, whoever you are, wherever you are, however old or young, and bounding out of bed because there’s something out there that you love to do, that you believe in, that you’re good at—something that’s bigger than you are, and you can hardly wait to get at it again today.”
